“From Here to Eternity” / Chiara Mu

Il progetto si e’ composto di tre fasi distinte: la campagna di crowdfunding “Esercizi di Visione” (Dicembre 2014-Febbraio 2015) lanciata per sostenere le spese
di post-produzione dell’opera, la mostra effettiva “From Here to Eternity” realizzata ad AlbumArte dal 18 Febbraio all’8 di Aprile e la sua conseguente documentazione
avvenuta tramite la realizzazione di questo web-documentary.
La mostra ha inaugurato il 18 febbraio 2015, presentando esclusivamente per quel giorno un evento composito e corale della durata di 3 ore e mezza.
I visitatori erano direttamente coinvolti, uno alla volta e con estrema grazia, nel tentativo di fare una radiografia emozionale degli spazi di AlbumArte, prendendo
come punti di speculazione diversi elementi architettonici del luogo e usufruendo per ognuno di questi di performers dedicati a proporne una conversazione
intima ed amichevole a riguardo: la porta, il tetto, la trave, il camino, il pavimento, le scale, la finestra…ed i suoni dello spazio.
Dal giorno dopo l’inaugurazione e per le seguenti 6 settimane il lavoro ha mutato pelle, trasformandosi in un racconto circolare, intimo ed interattivo, performato
tutti i giorni solo da me e per un solo visitatore alla volta, su appuntamenti della durata di 45 minuti circa e rigorosamente efettuati dopo il tramonto del sole.

From Here to Eternity è la promessa di un viaggio nello spazio e nel tempo che ha inizio nella contingenza terrena di qui e ora e si conclude in una
raggiunta nuova sensibilità in grado di scoprire ciò che normalmente non è visibile e udibile. Non c’è la contemplazione dell’oggetto artistico ma
piuttosto un susseguirsi di incroci di sguardi, voci e corpi da e verso il mondo che prospettano un’arte a venire. L’assenza di modelli non è una condizione marginale o
provvisoria di riferimento. La poetica di Chiara Mu non parte da un punto fisso, ma rinvia continuamente a un valore relazionale che interroga la funzione comunicativa
dell’arte. Il viaggio permette il ritorno a sé e l’accesso a una forma artistica non più legata alla visione ma alla natura mutevole dell’esperienza con l’altro.
La ricerca di Chiara Mu premia il suo sforzo disciplinato di interpretare un’arte autenticamente partecipativa che trae ispirazione dai processi stessi del vivere,
un’arte mai separata dalla realtà e dal suo continuo processo di interazione.
La storia del titolo in realtà ha origine tra i libri che Chiara Mu ha deciso di portare a Roma con sé quando ha lasciato Londra tre anni fa. Il suo legame
con i libri è inscritto nella sua pratica artistica e basta scorrere i titoli per comprenderlo; lì è possibile rintracciare i percorsi che l’arte di ricerca ha
compiuto negli ultimi decenni dirigendo l’esperienza estetica verso una piena partecipazione del pubblico.

The project consisted of three distinct phases: the crowdfunding campaign "Exercises in Vision" (December 2014-February 2015), launched to meet the costs of the exhibition’s post-production; the actual exhibition "From Here to Eternity" created for AlbumArte and realized there from February 18 to April 1; the consequent documentation defined by the creation of this web-documentary.
The exhibition opened on February 18, 2015, offering a collective event that lasted 3 hours and that happened only that day. The viewers were kindly and directly involved, one at a time, in an attempt to make an “emotional X-ray” of the AlbumArte’s space, taking many architectural features of the place as specific points of speculation. To explore them, 8 performers – one for each element - proposed an intimate and friendly conversation about it: regarding the door, the roof, the beam, the fireplace, the floor, the stairs, the window ... and the hidden sounds of the place.
From the day after and for the following six weeks, the work has changed, turning into a circular, intimate and interactive tale; I performed alone daily visits for one visitor at a time which lasted 50 minutes each, happening strictly after the sunset.

From Here to Eternity is the promise of a journey through space and time, which begins in the material contingency of ‘here and now’ and ends in a new achieved sensitivity, able to show us what would not be normally visible and audible. There is no contemplation of the art object but rather a succession of crossing glances, voices and bodies from and to the world that offers a new art to come. The absence of models is a condition of reference neither marginal nor provisional. The poetics of Chiara Mu does not start from a fixed point, but refers constantly to a relational value that questions the communicative function of art. This journey allows to go back to oneself and to access to a form of art, which is no longer tied to the vision alone, but to the changing nature of the experience with the other. Chiara Mu’s research rewards his disciplined effort to interpret a true participatory art, inspired by the same processes of living, an art that is never separated from reality and from its ongoing process of interaction. The history of the title actually origins from the books that Chiara decided to bring to Rome with her, when she left London three years ago. The connection with the books is inscribed in her artistic practice and you just need to go through the titles to get it; in here it is possible to trace the paths that the art research has made in recent decades,
directing the aesthetic experience towards a full public participation.
